ANGKOR
THOM
Angkor Thom

Built at the end of the 12th century, Jayavarman VII (reigned 1181-1220), the king of the Angkorian Dynasty, was the capital of the Angkorian Dynasty, with an architectural style inspired by Brahmins and Buddhism. The wall is 12 kilometers in circumference, 7 meters high, the moat is 100 meters wide, and a large stone bridge crosses the river. There are gates on all sides, a triumphal arch in the east, and 54 stone carvings on either side of the stone bridge in front of the south Gate, representing good and evil respectively. There are more than 100 palaces and temples in and around the city. The scale of Angkor was unprecedented in the world.
